Edmonton continues to be blanketed with a giant dump of white stuff. Its awesome. I love it....to a point. Waiting half an hour for a cab at 730 in the morning? Not my favourite way to pass the time. The bus ride to the store wasn't bad, the sidewalks hadn't been cleared but it didn't seem like the buses were having any problems on the streets. The parking lot at the grocery store? Horrible! They had cleared off some of the sidewalks in front but they just pushed it into the parking lot so cars were getting stuck. Including the absolutely brilliant woman who had decided to not only buy a smart car but chose to drive it in Edmonton. In the winter. In the middle of a snowstorm. Where we're expecting up to 20cm of snow. On top of the show we already have. Yes, some people are absolutely brilliant. The jackass clearing the sidewalks just laughed at her and pointed. My almost senior citizen aged mother and I pushed her out of the parking lot and onto the street which was only slightly better to drive in. I wouldn't bet money on whether or not that woman made it all the way home without getting stuck again. Thankfully, the muscle power we provided to her provided us with some good karma. Our cab showed up 5 minutes later and the driver carried our bags right inside and up to the elevator in our building (it helps when you give them a tip the size of the fare itself!). Poor guy though, he has to drive all day in this weather. Still, I'm not complaining. I love it but don't recommend driving unless you have to.
