BACK IN THE (BIKE) SADDLE

Oh how good it feels to exercise again when you've slacked off for a few days! Today is Superbowl Sunday and while I'll never be an NFL-calibre athlete, I figured it was high time I got off my lazy butt and hit the gym. Last week was a pretty crappy week, each day seeming to bring its own round of bad news. It ended on a positive note - I have an interview scheduled for the week of the 14th which makes me ecstatic (lets just say my present office is not a happy place to be) and my new issue of Shape arrived. Yay for small pleasures. Needless to say, I slacked off when it came to eating healthy and working out. But not today.

I still am not sleeping well (its been 4 days now I think?) so I wasn't sure how much I'd get in but I was going to give it a go. First up, the bike.

I love that our machines have their own televisions. It makes the time go by so much faster. 33 minutes on the bike for 5.61 miles. Awesome possum. There's generally not much on at 5:00 a.m. so when I'm working out I usually have it tuned to either CNN, CBC Newsworld, or TSN. Often, I'll just flip back and forth between the three getting my news and sports fixes for the day.

Next was the elliptical trainer. 15 minutes today, just shy of a full mile. It took a lot to stay on that long but I did it. Woot! I'd like to get up to 30 minutes on each machine. However, I'm also hoping that by that time, I'll be able to start walking/running on the treadmill again.

I don't know what the hell I'm doing with my neck. The whole bizarre forced-smile/strained next makes me look like my dad. It doesn't help that we're both bald. Sheesh. I promise I'll try to smile normally next time. I'm really cute, honest I am. Especially when I have my hair on.
