I have a new favourite chocolate. It used to be that my chocolate cravings belonged only to Lindt's Dark Chocolate with Chili Peppers, supplemented by the occasional dark chocolate/mint combo. Now? I have completed the chocolate trifecta. I present to you: Lindt's Intense Cranberry with Almond Slivers.
While shopping this morning, I passed by the chocolate section and was about to grab a dark chocolate with chili bar as I had run out recently. As I went to toss it into the shopping cart, I spied this new wrapper amongst the selections. Oooh. I like cranberrys. And almonds are one of the nuts I can eat. Intrigued, I switched.
Opening the foil wrapper, I took a big sniff. Seriously, doesn't everyone smell their chocolate before they eat it? A hint of sweet cranberries with the undeniable cocoa-iness (?) of the rich dark chocolate. Breaking off two squares, I popped one in my mouth and gave the other one to mom. "Mmmm" was the response she says she gave but I was too busy having a slight chocolate/cranberry mouth-gasm.
To say this new offering by Lindt is delightful is a disservice. It was rich and chocolatey, slightly sweet with the perfect hint of cranberry, and just a touch of almonds to give it a slight crunch when you bite into it. Oh sweet bejeebus, I love you, Intense Cranberry. I want to roll around on a giant slab of you...ok, maybe that's just a bit toooooo much but I LOVED this. Doubtful that it will be my go-to chocolate though. Unlike the chili pepper infused bar I've been enjoying for the past two years, this seems like a special occasion chocolate for me. Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving. I don't want to get sick of you so I will be saving you for special days.
