Not Another Manic Monday

Monday, February 06, 2012
I took a vacation day today so its been quiet and relaxing around my house.  No special reason for the day off, just a random day to not work.  This morning was spent doing laundry.  Lots and lots of laundry.  Poor little Nubs got sick on my bed early this morning so I had to wash everything - sheets, duvet, and duvet cover.  Add that to my usual weekly round of laundry plus washing the furniture covers and it really added up.  Thank goodness its Monday because if it was the weekend and I tried to hog the laundry room for that long, I'm sure there'd be a riot on our floor.

Today was also used to catch up on a few movies that I've never gotten around to watching.  First up was the documentary Man on Wire about Frenchman Phillipe Petit's 1974 high wire walk between the two World Trade Centre towers.  It was alright but I honestly didn't see what all they hype was about.  This was followed by Quentin Tarantino's World War II Brad Pitt flick, Inglorious Basterds.  Why oh why did I wait so long to see this little gem?  Typical Tarantino, its violent, funny, full of interesting music and great performances.  I especially enjoyed Christopher Waltz as Hans Landa; deliciously evil and oh so cool.
Dinner - steamed broccoli w/cheez whiz, jasmine rice, fried chicken w/sauteed onions and peppers
My afternoon was just as relaxing; a hot bath with the Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse (I think I know who the killer is!).  Don't worry, they didn't melt.  Followed that up with a couple of video games and then dinner - see above.  Now, I'm relaxing even more and spending what's left of today finishing up Season 3 of The X-Files.  More young celebrities spotted:  Lucy Liu and B.D. Wong in the episode Hell Money.  Its like a game now...

If you had today off, what would you have done with your time?

That's the thing with being a freelancer - there's no such thing as a day off. I'm not complaining, mind you, because I can also do laundry in the middle of the day any time I want.

Ain't Inglorious Basterds a fun movie?
