As promised, Mom and I headed to the Kinsmen Pool this morning for a water workout. Thanks to oneway streets, there is no direct bus there so its easier for us to walk. In the past this hasn't been much of a problem but given the heat (yes, I mention it yet again) and our lack of exercise for almost two weeks, the walk took it's toll. We were wiped out by the time we made it to the sports centre. Whew! Throw in multitudes of mosquitos and the ten minute wait we had before the centre opened was not pleasant. However, once inside we got our second wind, slipped into our swimsuits and hopped into the pool. Ahhhhh, the water was cooooooool.
I managed to aqua jog three laps of the pool (300 metres total) in about 30 minutes and it felt fantastic. Its one of those exercises that doesn't really feel all that strenuous or heart rate raising until you get out of the pool and suddenly, you're completely exhausted. Both Mom and I could have gone home and napped immediately afterwards but we still needed to get groceries.
|Lunch - tuna salad sandwich on ancient grain bread|
After getting home after shopping, I whipped up a tuna salad sandwich for lunch with a side of four bean salad. Mmmmmmm. I don't eat a lot of tuna (it can be too "fishy" and I hate the feeling of it in my teeth) but every once in a while I get a craving for it. The cats were thrilled. Tuna for me means tuna for them. With a full belly, I tried to lie down and have a nap; I was falling asleep in my chair anyways so I figured I might as well. After tossing and turning for about 45 mintues, I got up. I'll try again once the football game comes on - the Lions are at Saskatchewan this afternoon.
When I got up, I noticed I had an overwhelming craving for salt and vinegar chips. If I wasn't so tired, I probably would have thrown on a bra and headed down to the convenience store in our building. Instead, I stuck to my healthy eating guns and made myself a much tastier, better for me snack.
