Do you remember that March is suppposed to be mostly Coke free? Yeah, here's a surprise for you. It has not gone well. After a pretty impressive February (IMHO), I crashed and burned during the month of March. However, while the addiction to high fructose corn syrup, caramel colouring and carbonation continues, my attempts at moving more this year is going swimmingly despite not actually being in the pool for about a month. Out of 29 days so far this month, I've gotten some form of exercise (biking or walking/running) for 15 of them. That's working up a sweat every other day!
To help myself keep the momentum going, I've set myself another fitness challenge. As you know, in the past I've climbed the Seven Peaks and walked/biked/ellipticalled my way to Paris. For the past week or so, I've been trying to sort out what I'd like to challenge myself to next. And then it hit me while looking at our office vacation calendar. In June, Mom, Auntie B and I are celebrating our recent milestone birthdays with a mini-trip to Jasper, probably the most beautiful place I've ever been (sorry Kent, I loves you lots but you're my #2). Why not see if I can make it there by walking, biking and aquajogging before our actual trip?

The total distance from our apartment to our hotel is 377KM / 275Miles. Not a huge number but still a challenge. Given that I've only got just over two months (start date April 1), I need to average a whopping 28 miles per week. If I did a 5K every day, that's only 21 miles. Yikes. I don't think I'll make it before the actual trip but maybe mother nature will be on my side and I'll be able to get out there on my bike sooner rather than later and can start pumping out the miles.
While I'm not going head to head with anyone on this particular challenge, I find I'm much more consistent when I have a goal to work towards. Plus, seeing those bright smiley face stickers on my calender make me smile. I'll be posting updates along the way.
