Step 1 - Done

I informed my dietician of my plans, both short term (10K training) and long term (half marathon) and she was very happy that I'll have a plan to stick to with regular training days.  Today was not the best visit I've had with her - I gained 2lbs.  Not surprising given the way I've been eating lately but at least I was consistent with writing things down.  Anyways, back to training...

To ensure I follow through, I've signed up to take part in the Terry Fox Run on September 15th.  Its a 5 or 10K walk/bike/run event so I'll be doing the 10K walk.  I caved and told Mom about it as I didn't want to go by myself.  She was so happy and said she'd sign up too!   However, I made it clear that we probably wouldn't be walking together as I was currently in "training mode".  Again, more gushing from the Mom.  Sheesh, you'd think I'd never taken part in a race before.  All kidding aside, its nice that she's proud of me and happy.  I'm still not ready to share my Hypo-Half plans with her just yet. 

This will be my fist time in about 20 years that I've taken part in the Terry Fox Run but I'm proud to do it.  My family, like most, has been affected by cancer and raising a little bit of money to help in the battle is the least I can do (along with sweating it out for 10K).  So.... if you've got a fiver floating around, why not sponsor me?!  You had to know THAT was coming.
